ABOUT JOHN C NEUBAUER

John C Neubauer (75), innovator and master teacher of Tai Chi Yoga, began practicing Hatha Yoga daily in 1973 after friends recommended that it might help ease debilitating leg cramps from playing college basketball. It actually cured the leg cramps within a few weeks of beginning and they never returned, plus his hair stopped falling out and still hasn’t turned gray. His clumsiness turned into grace from mastering one-legged balances.

THE JOURNEY

John learned yoga from Maja Trigg (Louisville, Kentucky) and Swami Vishnudevananda’s camp (the Bahamas). He was also certified by Ms. Trigg in 1974 to teach yoga. His yoga was additionally influenced by the writings of B.K.S. Iyengar.

But yoga alone never got the tension in his shoulders to go away. Then another friend recommended Tai Chi. Within months of learning the flow of Tai Chi, the shoulder tension melted away and never returned.
He first learned Tai Chi (Wu-style) in 1976 from Kevin Akers (Louisville) and Gia-Fu Feng (in the French Alps). His Tai Chi was later influenced by Master Cheng Lu (Yang-style, Salt Lake City) and Master Alfred Huang (Wu-style, Maui).

John started teaching yoga in 1974, taking over ownership and management for a few years of Yoga East in Louisville, Kentucky. He began practicing Tai Chi daily in 1976. He blended the two into a single art form in 1977, which he has practiced and taught since then.

His daily practice consists of a 60-minute morning routine and a 45-minute evening routine of Tai Chi Yoga™, meditation, scripture study, and prayer. In the past 49 years, he has only missed a few days of practice due to hospitalizations.

He has instructed thousands around the world in Tai Chi Yoga™ over the past 40 plus years. In 1977, for example, he taught students in France, Germany, and Denmark as well as a ballet company in Munich. The owner of the ballet company was ecstatic with the results because his dancers flowed more naturally from the inside.
